Chapter 10

Even while Jun hurriedly left the Room of Requirement and paced up the corridors in the direction of where he’d deserted Nino all those hours ago, he knew he was chasing a lost cause. Even if by some miracle he was to find him, after the way they left things Jun was sure he was the last person Nino would want to see. He slowed his pace when he reached the empty hallway where he’d last seen his boyfriend. Disappointment settled quickly in Jun’s mind. He really ought to have known Nino would be long gone by now.

Jun carefully considered his options. He was done being rash and making a mess of things simply because he didn’t give them enough thought beforehand. There was the option to leave things as they were now, to just walk away and forget everything they had been and meant to each other. Jun immediately threw the thought away. He’d seen the depiction of his heart’s desire. He would never—no matter how painful—forget what Nino was to him. Not again. Another option was to give it time and attempt to mend things at a later date when the wounds of heartbreak weren’t so raw. Though Jun did contemplate this for quite a while, he knew time would not work in his favour. He knew what Nino was like. If given enough time apart, he would close himself off for good. Jun would not allow this to happen. He’d wasted months trying to wait for Nino to be ready to speak with him when he should have just confronted him the minute he first started to doubt. He would not make that same mistake twice. It had to be now.

There was still the issue of actually talking to him. Any chance of fixing things between them depended on Jun somehow tracking down Nino to convince him to meet with him. While Jun was fairly certain Nino would be in the Slytherin common room, especially considering the prefect patrols had not come across any students outside their dormitories, there would be no way for Jun to gain access as a Gryffindor. If they were to speak to each other, Nino would have to come out.

An idea was tossing about inside his head. He had no clue if it would work or if Nino would trust it even if it did, but he couldn’t think of anything else. All five of them had been together when they’d learnt the spell so Jun was confident Nino would remember. Whether he followed it or not was different story.

“Expecto Patronum” he whispered with a flick of his wrist. The end of his wand glowed a vibrant silver as the incantation was born.

Go, Jun thought and watched as his patronus streaked through the air in the direction of the Slytherin common room. Bring Nino to me.

---

Nino was lying on his side, hugging his legs close to his knees with his head buried in his arms. He hated being this way, feeling so weak and helpless. He wanted so badly to forget everything. He’d even considered asking Sho to perform a memory charm on him but he knew his friend would never agree to it regardless of his reasons. Since Jun walked out on his attempted explanation and apology, Nino hadn’t spoken a word to anyone. He had returned straight to his dorm and curled up onto his bed with the hope that if he stayed there long enough, it might just swallow him. He knew he couldn’t talk even if he wanted to. His throat was dry and scratchy from the tears he was constantly forcing back. If he tried speaking, he would break down. It was all he could do to keep from crying now.

Curled too tightly into himself, Nino failed to notice as a soft wisp of white light seeped in under the door of his dorm. The stream of mist stretched out across the floor, looming up to the bed as it moulded together in the form of a striped cat. It leapt onto the bed without any weight, stalking over to where Nino was balled up in the blankets. It reached out with one of its huge paws and stroked his cheek.

Nino shivered at the contact. It was less a physical touch than it was a sensation that caused a tremor throughout his entire body when the glowing essence passed right through him. He shook himself free of the blankets and looked up in surprise at the patronus glaring right back at him. He gulped, staring into the intense eyes that mirrored the gaze of the man he’d been attempting to forget this whole time. There was only one person Nino knew who had a patronus in the form of a tiger.

The patronus jumped off the bed and roamed over to the door, turning back and sending Nino a pointed look. Baffled, Nino hesitantly got off the bed and made his way over when the tiger began to paw at the door. Then it vanished. The faint wisps flowing back under the door was all the remained of the charm. Nino was about to head back to bed when he heard a deep reverberating sound, almost like a growl come from the other side of the door. He hastily opened it to find the tiger balancing on the edge of the staircase railing, streaking down to the main area of the common room with Nino right on its tail. Even when they reached the stone wall that hid the entrance of the Slytherin common room, the patronus once again evaporating as it passed right through, Nino continuing his pursuit. He wasn’t sure why to be honest. Finding the tiger patronus in his room had confused him. He was certain it belonged to Jun, he just couldn’t understand why it was there and quite clearly intending for him to follow it.

The answer made itself known when Nino shadowed the charm all the way out into the courtyard. It was freezing. Even when the air was still it was enough to cause goose pimples to raise on the skin, but with the slight breeze it chilled to the bone. Nino rubbed his arms and stood observing on the edge of the courtyard as the tiger streaked across the distance between him and the stranger standing on the other side. The glow on the end of their wand faded as the patronus died, having fulfilled its purpose.

“So it was you who sent it” Nino whispered under his breath. “Why?” Even though he knew Jun could not hear him, he couldn’t help but ask.

After a couple of minutes staring at each other in the silence of the night, Jun crossed the courtyard to stand closer to Nino. Seeing him shivering, he removed his jacket and draped it over the smaller guy’s shoulders. No words were exchanged between them even as Nino turned slightly to look away, Jun’s cold hand very lightly brushing against his cheek.

“Do you still love me?” It wasn’t what Jun wanted to start this conversation with but he needed to know. He deserved some form of closure after all the uncertainty Nino had put him through these last few months.

Nino couldn’t face Jun. There would be no chance of holding himself together if he did. He chewed on his bottom lip. He wanted to say something clever, to fall back on his usual default snark that right now seemed to be lost under the emotions toying with his heart. “I never stopped.”

“I’m an idiot” whispered Jun, leaning in close to his ear as though afraid Nino would not hear him otherwise.

“Understatement” Nino replied with his voice quivering slightly. Jun stared into his eyes even as he latter continued to avoid his gaze. “I want to be like her but I never loved her, Jun.”

Nino glanced up just long enough to see Jun lower his head with a wince. “I should have told you earlier. Guess you’re not the only idiot here” he tried to laugh it off while reaching out to take Jun’s hand.

Jun jolted out of Nino’s grasp when he felt their fingers brush together. He could hardly breathe.

“Jun…”

“Kazu,” he choked out, unable to meet his gaze. “I kissed her.”

Nino sighed gently hearing Jun’s quiet confession. It was something he already knew and caused a sharp pang in his chest every time he thought back to that night where he’d witnessed it with his own eyes. Yet with the way Jun was trembling at the mere mention of the incident, his eyes downcast and practically overflowing with guilty tears, Nino forced himself past the agonizing memory and took his hand a second time, this time refusing to let Jun pull away.

“I know” he said.

Jun’s head shot up at the unexpected response. “You know?” he stammered.

Nino nodded softly. “I saw the two of you at the ball.”

“But that was before you tried to make amends” Jun realized, struggling to comprehend why Nino’s efforts to reconcile only noticeably improved after the ball if he had caught him cheating. “Weren’t you hurt by what I did?”

“I was” Nino answered truthfully. “It actually felt like someone had ripped by heart right out, and I thought I hated you for it.” He paused, his gaze trailing to their connected hands. “Until the others cleared things up. I realized you wouldn’t do something like this, entering the tournament and kissing her, if I had just been honest with you from the start.”
Jun traced his hand over Nino’s jawbone. Regret was evident in his voice, his eyes seeming wetter than they had minutes ago. Jun really hated seeing him like this. He missed Nino’s smile. Too long had it been since he’d last seen the smaller guy smirking with a cockiness that shone clear in his expressive eyes.

“We both should have been.”

Jun brought their lips together. It started soft and almost hesitant as neither side knew whether it would be okay to go any further. Then it deepened, all the guilt and remorse of the past months causing an intense heat to burn between them as they pressed closer, their bodies slotting against each other perfectly in an unconscious movement. Despite it being so long since they’d held one another in this manner, with nothing but a raw desperation to feel each other’s love, their bodies acted instinctively on their own accord.

Nino’s hand slipped under the waistband of Jun’s pants to stroke at the member he could feel hardening against his thigh. Jun was grappling at the layers covering Nino’s upper body, frustrated when they repeatedly forced him to break the kiss to remove them. He ran his hands over the body of his boyfriend, fondling his nipples and brushing his fingers over the slight raise of his stomach until he’d reached obvious problem in his pants. His own cock was almost painfully hard by the time the rest of their clothes had been disposed of.

The two of them sunk to the ground, Nino staring up at Jun who was gazing down with a dark glint in his eyes as they lustfully ran over his body from head to toe.

“Ready to finish where we left off last time?” asked Jun though his hand was already sliding up the inside of Nino’s thigh.

“What if I said no?” Nino teased. Jun growled and gave his nipple a hard tweak, causing Nino to let out a soft yelp. He grinned up at him. “You know I like it when you play rough.”

Where they were completely forgotten, Jun gripped Nino’s cock firmly in his hand in the way he knew his little lover enjoyed, stroking it into complete hardness until the tip was glistening with small beads of pre-cum. He ran his nail over the slit, loving the way Nino hissed while his back arched up off the ground. He held out two of his fingers into front of Nino which he quickly took in his mouth and began to suck hard, his skilful tongue running over the digits until they were well coated with saliva. Satisfied, Jun removed them from his mouth and pressed his index finger to his lover’s hole. Nino gave a small nod indicating he was ready, gripping almost violently at Jun’s shoulders when the first finger was pushed in slowly to the knuckle. Jun flexed it, moving the finger in and out of Nino as he stretched the tight muscles that clenched around him, adding a second finger and then a third before he was convinced his boyfriend was prepared well enough. Nino certainly seemed ready for him if the way he was thrusting his hips in time with Jun’s finger movement was anything to go off.

Jun positioned himself with Nino’s legs over his shoulders, his member lined up with the stretched opening. In one movement, he pushed into him. Nino let out a scream of painful pleasure as he felt Jun enter him.

Just had he had done while prepping him, Jun started out his thrusts slow, gently building his pace once he was sure Nino could take it. It had been some time since they’d done this, after all. He didn’t want to hurt his boyfriend. Nino moved his legs from his shoulders in favour of wrapping them around his waist, attempting to guide Jun’s thrusts to his spot. His hips were snapping off the ground to hasten their pace, needing to feel Jun deeper and harder. Jun complied and angled his thrusts to hit Nino’s prostate. The latter’s hands came up to Jun’s nape, gripping tightly at his hair as pleasure filled him. He saw stars when Jun hit his spot repeatedly. The sounds of skin slapping together and soft panting echoed in the open area of the courtyard. Nino’s breathing quickened and he knew he was close. He could see Jun was getting close as well. One final thrust push them both over the edge. Screaming each other’s name, they came together in unison.

Nino’s arms came up to wrap around Jun as he collapsed on top of him, both exhausted. The cold was completely forgotten as they stayed locked together in a hot mess under the dark sky for a few more minutes until they had come down from their high. Jun rolled off of him and lay by his side, the two of them staring up at the twinkling expanse above their heads.

“At least that’s one thing we always did right” Nino panted. He could sense Jun turn to look at him in disbelief before chuckling lightly at his comment.

“Got that right” he agreed, handing Nino his clothes while changing back into his. His smile fell. “I thought we’d never have the chance to do that again.”

Nino rolled onto his side, shuffling closer to Jun until he was tucked up into his side with his head resting on his boyfriend’s narrow chest. “Me neither, but we’re okay now. Right?”

“I think so” Jun nodded as his arm came up to hold Nino. His hand moved in gentle strokes over his back, drawing faint patterns over his skin.

“What if I told you not to compete in the third task?” Jun blinked in surprise hearing the sudden question. He glanced down to find Nino mimicking the patterns he had been tracing with his own finger on his chest.

“You’re worried about me?”

Nino didn’t look up. “You’ve had two close calls already. You know what they say about threes.”

“I’ll be more focused now that we’re okay” Jun said with a half-lie. Knowing it was highly unlikely they would use Nino again in the third task would help him concentrate, but Jun really didn’t think Nino had been on his mind enough during the first two tasks for him to have impacted his performance. “Besides, I started this thing for you. I’ve got to finish it.”

“I don’t want you to have to die for me” Nino snapped, staring up at him with oddly innocent eyes. “I want you to live for me.” Jun sat up, pulling him onto his lap. He nuzzled his cheek with his nose as he gained a deeper understanding of Nino’s concern for him.

“I’m not going to die” he promised. “We lost each other once, I won’t let it happen again but I can’t pull out of the tournament. The champion selection is a binding contract. Even if I wanted to quit, I couldn’t.”

Nino gave no response as he snuggled closer, face pressing against his shirt. Jun sighed, petting his lover’s hair with soothing strokes. Now wasn’t the right time to be talking about such things. Letting the conversation die there, Jun continued to hold Nino in silence until he heard a soft snore sound from his boyfriend. His chest was heaving with every deep breath he inhaled, which Jun could feel through his own torso that it was pressed against. It was an oddly relaxing sensation. A faint smile graced his lips as he looked briefly at Nino’s sleeping face. He stretched his head back to gaze at the thousands of stars glistening so brightly above them as the breeze died down and plunged the chilly night air into a cool stillness.

OMG I DONT EVEN KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN!
First of all, the use of patronus to guide nino out..god that was ADORABLE! and super creative! Nyaaaaa it was sooo cuteeee x333 so happy that they're all good now.. ^^

Secondly, THAT SMUT! I SWEAR ITS NOT YOUR FIRST TIME! WTH!! It's SO GOOD! I can feel their passion.. releasing their sexual tension that has been building up due to the strain in their relationship before. God. It's soo soo passionate and romantic and fuckin sexy & hawt, it easily becomes one of the top smut I've read. The way jun treats nino. Unf. Too god damn precious. And the fact that they're exposed.. like.. not even hiding anymore. The fact that anyone could've walked in and they wouldn't give a care in the world.. ugh.

BUT THEN! The angst! It will forever haunts nino that jun can get seriously hurt or even die when he still competes in the tournament.. and the way he ask jun to not go into the third challenge.. breaks my heart really.. damn it.. and how seemingly helpless jun is, cause you can't just pull out once you're in.. like ugh damn it. I really hope jun will be safe.. and nino as well, I just hope nothing bad will happen to those two.

I will wait patiently for the next update, this is enough for now :3
Thank you for always taking me on a rollercoaster ride hahah.. it's amazing how you can do that
